Linda Umstead plays
a museum quality Wurlitzer Starke CC orchestral harp, highly coveted by professional harpists for its beauty and magnificent
tone. The harp is a stunning ebony finish with bronze and gold gilding. With Gary Wenzel providing a full
and rich chordal background, Linda is able to improvise with her Gemeinhardt concert flute to give a trio sound at a
duo price.
Using Bose-type technology, "Anthology" has equipment that can fill a concert hall or
large venue to provide music at a volume that will be heard, but not intrusive to, your guests.
Anthology
will perform just about any style of music for your event, from popular and jazz standards to classical, renaissance, medieval
and celtic music with a variety of instrumentation. An extensive repertoire listing is below.
Gary Wenzel
was inspired to play the guitar after hearing the Beatles perform in 1964. He began lessons with Hiram Hoch and after
only three years of study, had his first gig at Doe Mountain Ski Resort at age 11. Gary went on to study at the Academy
of Arts with Marty Bonk, with Tal Farlow, student of jazz legend Charles Mingus, and with jazz notables Jack Wilkins
and Joe Cohen at the Manhattan School of Music. Locally he has studied classical and jazz guitar with Ken Gehret and
theory and harmony with David Kincaid. Gary began teaching at Fred's Music Shop in 1974 and is now the senior
instructor, having many of his students move on to performing and teaching. He has conducted jazz improvisation
workshops at Albright College and Penn State University. Gary has been a freelance performer since 1967 locally and
at various venues along the east coast and appears on numerous recordings.
